They say a picture is worth a thousand words. For the women of JSU volleyball, only one word is necessary… champions. Before the season even began, expectations were high for JSU volleyball. "We're gonna win conference, that's our ultimate goal," OVC Player of the Year Abbey Breit said at the beginning of the season.

The Chanticleer had originally planned to interview the twelve members of the JSU volleyball team after their final game together. However, the ladies had different plans. Take a team that has spent the past year together, gone through injuries and a very tough start to the season, and you might find a closeness that makes a team just that, a team.

Ladies lose three on the road

When the JSU women's basketball team took the court November 18 for their season opener, they were in for a fight. One they won 84-77. The Wolverines of Utah Valley State, led by Robyn Fairbanks, had a nine point lead at the end of the first half, causing the Gamecocks to rethink their game plan during half time.
