The Jack is back. Johnson, the surfer/singer-songwriter from Hawaii, has returned for his fifth full-length album, Sleep Through The Static.
The same old Jack is what you need to expect. Nothing really all that new is found in Sleep. The laidback surfer attitude is still influential to the music.
Songs of nature and songs of agony are usually left to their own genres of music, but then again, I just heard of this band.
Wisconsin-based Bon Iver — and its main star Justin Vernon — debuts with For Emma, Forever Ago. The album's songs are almost all sang in a falsetto. The agony of the songs and pictures of nature are sang vividly throughout.
Hot Chip's new album, Made in the Dark, is an eclectic mix of rock and roll, electronica dance beats, and interesting lyrics. The British quintet definitely knows how to lay down a catchy beat, laced with undeniable hooks. I'm not usually a fan of any music made on a computer, but this album may have changed my opinion a bit.
